Selected oral contraceptive pills (birth control pills) are available directly from an accredited pharmacist at Vautier Pharmacy without needing a new prescription from your doctor.
This convenient pharmacy service allows eligible patients to continue their contraceptive pill supply after a pharmacist consultation.
Eligibility for Pharmacist Supply
To receive the oral contraceptive pill from a pharmacist, you must meet the following criteria:
You must have previously been prescribed the pill by a doctor within the last 3 years
You must have had at least two consultations with your doctor to discuss the pill
Age requirements:
Combined oral contraceptive pill: 16 to 39 years
Progestogen-only pill: 15 to 52 years
Your pharmacist will confirm eligibility during a private consultation.
Oral Contraceptive Pills Available
Only certain types of oral contraceptive pills can be supplied by an accredited pharmacist. These include commonly used brands such as:
Levlen
Microgynon 20ED
Norimin
Noriday
Your pharmacist will discuss the most appropriate option for you during the consultation.
Pharmacist Consultation and Health Check
To ensure safe and appropriate use of the contraceptive pill, you will need a consultation with our accredited pharmacist. During this consultation we will:
Review your medical history
Confirm that the pill is appropriate for you
Discuss ongoing contraceptive use and safety
For patients using the combined oral contraceptive pill, a blood pressure check will also be required.
A full consultation must take place at least once per year.
