Emergency Contraception (Morning After Pill)

Sometimes things don’t go according to plan. If you find yourself in this situation you can speak with one of our trained pharmacists to access emergency contraception (also known as the Morning-After Pill).

Emergency contraception discussions are private and will take place in a private part of the pharmacy or a consulting room. The person requiring emergency contraception will need to participate in a confidential interview with the Pharmacist, to ensure that the product is appropriate for them.

Emergency contraception is time-critical so don’t hesitate to call in and see us.

Oral Contraceptive Pills

Selected Oral Contraceptive Pills are available from  a pharmacist accredited to supply the oral contraceptive pill without prescription.

You must have had the pill previously prescribed by a Doctor in the last 3 years and had two visits to the Doctor to discuss the pill. You must be aged 16 to 39 for the combined oral contraceptive pill or 15 to 52 years for the progestogen only pill.

Only some types of the Oral contraceptive pill are available from your pharmacist. These include the most commonly used preparations including Ava 20, Ava 30, Norimin and Noriday.

You must have a full consultation at least annually with your accredited pharmacist to discuss your medical history, and the appropriateness of supply and for combined oral contraceptive users a blood pressure check will be needed.

A consultation fee will apply and the cost of the medication will vary depending on the oral contraceptive pill required after consultation if deemed appropriate.

Please call us for further information and exact costs.

Thrush Treatment

Treatment for vaginal thrush is available from our pharmacist without a prescription. It’s important to note that not all vaginal infections are thrush. You can discuss your symptoms with our Pharmacist in private for advice.

Treatment options include anti-fungal creams, pessaries (tablets which are inserted into the vagina), or oral capsules. All of the available treatments work by stopping the growth of candida without affecting ‘helpful’ bacteria naturally present within the vagina.

Urinary Tract Infections

If you are suffering from a Urinary Tract Infection, Cystitis or UTIs, one of our pharmacists can discuss your symptoms with you in a private area.

Our trained Pharmacists are able to offer antibiotic treatment for UTIs where appropriate without the need for a prescription. Your Pharmacists will work through a thorough checklist with you to ensure the medicine is right for you.

The treatment, a three-day course of antibiotics, is available to women between the ages of 16 and 65 who are not pregnant. We may also suggest some other options for you to consider.
